JOB TITLE:
Shipping and Receiving Manager

RESPONSIBLE TO:
Vice President of Operations

GENERAL DUTIES:
– Responsible for management, guidance, motivation, delegation of tasks, discipline, and evaluation of the Shipping and Receiving, and Inventory staff.
– Oversight and preparation of outgoing shipments, receipt of incoming shipments, and all related shipping duties.
– Packaging Lead. Oversight and work in the packaging, and other bottling and labeling duties.
– Follow Standard Operating Procedures and properly document process with good documentation practices.
– Provide feedback to upper management on work-related issues and employee performance.
– Provide or appropriately assign and ensure proper training to new hires.
– Additional duties and modifications may be added as the need arises.

SPECIFIC DUTIES FOR SHIPPING/RECEIVING:
– Primary contact for various departments (Customer Service, B&L, Production, QC, Inventory, and Finance) regarding product, shipping, and customer account issues.
– Distribute workload. Manage day‐to‐day workflow within each team including identification of assignments and responsibility, establishing work deadlines, and coordinating completion of activities.
– Quality control of outgoing shipping packages.
Communicate with customers regarding shipment confirmation and details.
– Oversee shipment of all outgoing products – properly pick, package, and verify quantities, and destination. Designation of order pick-up/drop off (if necessary).
– Use of QuickBooks in processing orders, and generating shipping documentation. – Handle priority, complex, custom, and/or international orders and special shipments.
– Maintain minimum finished good products and meet customer deliveries.
– Coordination with Shipping team regarding outgoing orders to be filled and backorders.
– Oversee maintenance, cleanliness, and efficiency of the Shipping room, Finished Goods cold room, receiving area, and supplies.
– Resolve individual conflicts or problems with a specific project or task.
– Responsible for procedure development and protocol writing.
– Participate in shipping, receiving, inventory, and B&L audits.

SPECIFIC DUTIES FOR PACKAGING LEAD:
– Assist in distribution of workload. Manage day‐to‐day workflow within each team including identification of assignments and responsibility, establishing work deadlines, and coordinating completion of activities.
– Trained to assemble finished good products and print using barcode software, label, fill, cap, and package. Examine and inspect labels and finished good products.
– Maintain a clean, sanitary workplace.
– Assist in coordination of the B&L team regarding priority and manage multiple projects.
– Follow Standard Operating Procedures and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
– Resolve individual conflicts or problems with a specific project or task.
– Assist in holding Shipping and B&L meetings and meeting minutes.
– Responsible for procedure development and protocol writing.
– Participate in B&L audits.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
– Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of shipping experience or equivalent.
– Knowledge and experience with Management preferred.
– Previous experience with FedEx and UPS on-line delivery/pick-up and QuickBooks software preferred.
– Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Gmail.
– Must be detail oriented and excellent at record-keeping and have the ability to work well under deadlines.
– Excellent writing and communication skills.
– Able to think critically, analyze, and troubleshoot data.
– Ability to lead and work well on a team.
– Must have a vehicle and be willing to drop-off at FedEx/UPS locations for emergency/missed pick-ups.
– Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
– Able to work in the cold room frequently, which is kept at 2-8°C (35.6 – 46.4°F).

GENERAL ON THE JOB TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
– Time management.
– Prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
– Outgoing shipment of products and Quality Control checks of outgoing shipments.
– B&L training (reagent/calibrator/control bottling and labeling).
